Baby registry examples: three complete lists to adapt

A good baby registry brings together equipment for the first weeks, everyday essentials and a few affordable treats. Here are three complete examples for a first baby, a second child and a smaller budget. Keep what suits your family, remove the rest, then copy your selection into an online list to share.

Ideas at every price

This list has 21 items, more than half costing €60 or less, so everyone can find something within their budget. Put the car seat, pushchair and cot first: you will need them when leaving the maternity unit. Include a link to the exact model you have chosen.

Sharing the cost of larger purchases

People often contribute together towards more expensive items. On Listopia, someone can start a contribution pool for the pushchair and each person can pledge an amount. You arrange payment directly among yourselves.

Example 2: the baby registry of a second child

For a second child, you can reuse some of your older child's equipment. Focus the list on what is missing, life with two children and a small gift for the older sibling.

Before sharing the list, check what you have kept: cot, bath, baby bouncer and play mat. Check their condition and list only what you still need.

A little girl holds a wrapped gift beside a parent, in front of a pushchair, while waiting for the baby’s arrival
  • 40–100 €

    Ride-on board for a pushchair

The older child can rest on journeys

  • 250–900 €

    Double stroller

If the children are close in age

  • 40–120 €

    Baby carrier

Keep your hands free for your older child

  • 60–150 €

New mattress that fits the cot

The older child's cot can often be reused

  • 20–50 € piece

Baby sleeping bags for the season of birth

If the older child was born in a different season

  • 30–60 €

Bodysuits and sleepsuits for the season

The older child's clothes may be the wrong size for the season

  • 15–40 €

    New bottles and teats

    Often bought for each child

  • 80–400 €

    Car seat

For the baby, or a larger seat if the older child passes theirs on

  • 10–20 €

Book on the arrival of a little brother or sister

    Gently prepare your older child

  • 10–30 €

    Small gift "from the baby"

So the older sibling has a gift to unwrap too

  • At the choice of the family

Prepared meals or an evening of babysitting

A precious help in the first weeks

Indicative price ranges.

An idea without a link also counts

Ideas without a merchant link have their place: on Listopia, a wish can be a simple description, like "a meal prepared for the first week".

Example 3: affordable and second-hand items

A smaller-budget list combines ideas under €30 with second-hand equipment for bigger purchases. Be particularly careful about the history of a used car seat.

You can often find a pushchair, cot, baby bouncer or high chair second-hand in good condition. Paste the listing into your list so loved ones can see the price and reserve the item or contribute together.

Bibs, a fabric book, a teething ring, a duck-shaped bath thermometer and a knit vest with a blank label
  • 10–25 € Set of bibs
  • 10–20 € Cloth book
  • 10–25 € Rattles and teething rings
  • 10–25 € Bath thermometer
  • 10–20 € Nail cutters and baby brush
  • 10–25 € Bodysuit or sleepsuit in size 6 months
  • 8–20 € Newborn hat and booties
  • 10–25 € Reusable wipes
  • 15–30 € Comfort toy
  • 15–30 € Birth album

Indicative price ranges.

Avoid a second-hand car seat if you do not know its history. A seat involved in a collision must be replaced. Follow the manufacturer's stated service life.

Adapt the example to your family

Adapt your baby registry to the season of birth, the space in your home and your daily routine.

  • The birth season

A winter baby needs a warm all-in-one suit and thicker sleeping bags; a summer baby needs light outfits and a parasol for the pushchair.

  • The place at home

For a small home, choose a cradle or convertible cot, a bath that stores away and a folding changing table.

  • Meals

Add breastfeeding or bottle-feeding items to suit your plans, and leave later purchases, such as a high chair, for a second list.

  • Loved ones who prefer a different kind of gift

An evening of babysitting, prepared meals or an album to fill in together make welcome gifts, even without a shop link.

Turn the example into an online baby registry

Create a baby registry on Listopia, add the articles in the example from any site, and then share the link with your loved ones.

  1. Create the list

Give it a name, such as ‘Baby Martin's registry’. No sign-up is required.

  2. Add the items

Paste a link to a new or second-hand product. Listopia fills in the title, image and price when the website allows it. You can also type an idea yourself.

  3. Share the link

Send it by WhatsApp, text message or email. Your loved ones reserve a gift without creating an account, and the others see that it has been taken.

By default, you cannot see who reserved what, so the surprise lasts until the birth or baby shower. A gift can either be reserved by one person or funded through a contribution pool among loved ones, never both. No payment goes through Listopia.

Fictional example: what your loved ones see

Gift pool amounts are pledges. Payments are arranged directly between friends and family.
