The gift a couple loves is one they live or share together: an outing, a workshop, an evening at home, a keepsake. Here are 18 original ideas from €9 to €100, for Christmas or all year round, and how to give them as a group.

How do you choose a gift for a couple?

Choose a gift for both of them at once: something to experience together or an item they will use as a pair, rather than two small separate gifts.

  • Think “us”: the gift should please both of them, not just the one you know best.

  • Give them time together: an outing, a workshop or a dinner leaves a shared memory, especially when daily life is busy.

  • Let them pick the date: a gift box or voucher valid for several months means you don’t have to guess their schedule.

Products chosen from their product pages, without trying them, on retailer sites that deliver to France: elsewhere, check delivery and the venues of boxes and workshops.

Which gift for which couple?

A young couple, friends, your parents: the right gift mostly depends on what they lack, whether time, things or memories.

  • A young couple setting up home

For their housewarming or their first Christmas at home: things they wouldn’t buy for themselves just yet.

    • A throw for two
    • A cocktail set
    • A frame for two photos
  • A couple you’re friends with

An outing to enjoy as a pair, chosen together. If several friends chip in, the gift can become a weekend away.

    • A candlelit concert
    • A workshop for two
    • A two-player game
  • Your parents or in-laws

Time for the two of them, without the children or grandchildren.

    • A night in a guesthouse
    • A couples massage
    • A photo album
  • A couple who already have everything

An experience rather than an object, or something that gets used up without cluttering the house.

    • A workshop voucher
    • A scented candle
    • A gourmet hamper
  • New parents

What they miss most: an evening off, just for the two of them.

    • A babysitting voucher
    • A dinner delivered to their door
    • A lie-in, courtesy of you
  • Your own relationship

A gift to enjoy together rather than an object for the other.

    • A challenge game for two
    • A surprise evening
    • A night away

Still not sure? Ask them for a list: they write down what they would really love.

Original gift ideas for a couple: an experience for two

A workshop, a concert or a surprise activity: the gift becomes a shared memory, and the couple picks the date.

On the 2025 Christmas lists: 27% of Listopia lists asked for at least one outing, experience or subscription.

  • A workshop with a craftsperson: pottery, cooking, jewellery or woodwork, side by side.

  • An outing: a concert, a show or a tasting, followed by dinner.

  • Something they would never have dared to try: karting, canoeing or a photo shoot.

Gift boxes for couples: a getaway or a wellness break for two

A night away from home or a couples massage: a good gift for parents, or for a couple who never take the time.

Before giving a gift box, check its page for the regions covered and how long it is valid: they vary from one box to another.

Christmas gifts for a couple: cosy evenings for two

A throw big enough for two, a tea or some truffles, a candle: gifts that get used every winter evening.

  • Big enough for two: a 2.30 m throw, for the sofa as well as the bed.

  • Something for hosting: a cocktail set, given with a handwritten recipe.

  • A cosy mood: a candle with wood-fire notes, matching slippers.

  • Something to nibble: a Christmas tea or some truffles, to open under the throw.

Board games for couples, for two players

A game designed for two players can be set up in minutes on a weeknight, with no need to have friends over.

On the 2025 Christmas lists: 21% of Listopia lists asked for at least one board game or puzzle.

Personalised gifts for a couple: portraits, photos and keepsakes

The most personal: a portrait of the two of them, two photos that matter or an album filled in by their loved ones.

  • A poster of their big date

The date and place they met, married or moved in together, printed and framed.

  • A notebook from their loved ones

Each friend writes a memory or sticks in a photo as the notebook is passed around, then you give it to the couple.

  • Rings made together

In a jewellery workshop, they make their silver rings side by side, guided by a craftsperson. These workshops for two often cost more than €250: a lovely gift to give as a group.

A group gift for the couple, from several of you

Among friends or family, everyone chips in a little, and the couple receives a gift none of you would have given alone.

  1. 1. Choose the gift together

A weekend away, a couples massage or a big workshop: decide as a group, with a budget that suits everyone.

  2. 2. Everyone notes their contribution

Start a gift pool on the gift: on their list if it is there and nobody has reserved it, otherwise on a Listopia list created for the occasion. Everyone notes their pledge and sees what is left to raise.

  3. 3. One person buys it

They order the gift once the amount is reached, and everyone pays them back directly.

No payment goes through Listopia: the gift pool keeps track of pledges, and the money is settled between you.

The safest option: ask the couple for their list

For Christmas or a birthday, a list kept by the couple means no guesswork: family and friends can see what is already reserved.

  1. 1. One list, both their names

On Listopia, the couple creates a group list, adds both their first names and notes their wishes, each their own or shared ones. It is free and needs no sign-up.

  2. 2. Family and friends reserve without an account

They open the link, choose a wish and reserve it, on a phone or a computer.

  3. 3. No duplicates, and the surprise is kept

Others see a reserved wish as taken. By default, neither of them can see whether their own wishes are reserved, or by whom.

On the 2025 Christmas lists: 39% of Listopia lists already brought together the wishes of at least two people.
